Merchants Presents the 2022 MPACT Awards, Winners Announced

A community bank at our core, finding new ways to give back to the people in our communities each year is of the utmost importance to us at Merchants. Since opening our doors, we have made commitments to our local communities through personal and organizational volunteer efforts at nonprofits in many of our regional locations. As these communities navigated many post-pandemic realities in 2022, the need for heightened support and volunteerism became ever present. This past year, the Merchants MPACT program allowed our employees to engage in their local communities in greater capacities than ever before.

Started in 2018, the MPACT program supports Merchants employees Positively Advancing Communities Together to make an “MPACT” in the communities where we live and work. Across our regional offices, employees also come together in their community service efforts to advance affordable housing, improve financial education, stimulate economic development and support the greater interests of our customers.

Over the course of the program, employees have logged more than 8,000 hours of community service dedicated towards a number of nonprofit organizations. In 2022 alone, we recorded over 3,000 hours of service from a team of more than 220 employees. Most recently, our volunteer efforts have supported local community development organizations including Big Brothers and Big Sisters, Habitat for Humanity, Intend Indiana, Million Meal Movement, Near East Area Renewal (NEAR), School on Wheels, Dove House, HAND Inc. and others.

To celebrate the achievements of our employees, we proudly celebrated our fourth annual MPACT Awards ceremony on May 17 at our Merchants Bancorp headquarters which also included a virtual element for our employees outside of the Carmel region. The ceremony recognized and honored our employees for their outstanding contributions to volunteerism in the last year.

This year, we celebrated the following 2022 MPACT Catalyst Winners for their outstanding fulfillment of the MPACT program’s mission and values.

Following the presentation of our Catalyst winners, we honored Denise Patterson (Farmers-Merchants Bank of Illinois in Joy) with our 2022 Volunteer of the Year award. In recognition of her commitment to community, Denise was presented with a commemorative gold trophy and $1,000 cash award.

In 2022, Denise dedicated her time and talents to numerous charitable organizations including the Mercer County Family Crisis Center, Mercer County Relay for Life, Aledo United Methodist Church Women’s Group and the Joy, Illinois Volunteer Fire Department. Her volunteer efforts with these organizations supported annual fundraisers and events in the local Joy community.

Success of the MPACT program year over year is a testament to the dedication of our employees. We are thankful for their continued commitment to giving back, and look forward to another great year of volunteering and supporting those who need it most.
